Finding the dress for tonight’s cocktail party is the easy part. Sussing out what makeup to team with it? That’s one big headache! Luckily for you, there is a solution to your problem. This pictorial will explain how to achieve the perfect makeup for your night out!
Step 1: The key to flawless eye makeup starts with applying primer cream on your skin to make it softer, more elastic, and hydrated. A thin layer of makeup primer will be enough protection for your pores. Wait a couple of minutes until the primer absorbs.
Step 2: Contouring can define your natural facial features and create a gorgeous glow only if it is applied correctly. Choose the right highlighter for your skin tone and apply it on those areas of your face that catch light. The ideal places to highlight are your cheekbones, along your temples, the bridge of your nose between the eyes, underneath the arch of the brow, and right above your Cupid’s bow. Then, grab a concealer which is two shades darker than your skin tone. Contour the top of the forehead, along bridges of your nose, cheekbones, and jaw lines.
Step 3: Nicely blend your highlighter and dark concealer with a fan brush or with a makeup sponge to avoid harsh lines and edges.
Step 4: Fill in your eyebrows with a brow pencil by applying short strokes. Once you are satisfied with the final result, use a q-tip to gently clean up any imperfections you may have created with the pencil. Finally, stroke through with a brow brush to blend the pencil with the natural eyebrows.
Step 5: Apply dark brown eyeshadow across your eyelid. Smudge it out with your brush to give that look of glimmer and freshness to your gaze. Grab your favorite black eyeliner and gently draw a delicate line on your upper lash line. Since you want to avoid looking too droopy, slightly flick your eyeliner at the corner.
Step 6: Finish off the look with several coats of your favorite thickening black mascara. For best results, use waterproof, long-lasting mascara to intensify the natural richness of your eyes.
Step 7: Define your lips with the colour you find most appropriate for this makeup style – either dark red or glossy pink lip colour shade.
